Bible Studies and Learning
Continuous study of the Bible and books on Christianity are an important part of life at First Presbyterian. Several opportunities are offered each year for education, led by our pastor or church members and enriched by the idea-sharing and interaction of those attending. Come join the discussions!
Adult Sunday School is held each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in Harrington Parlor. Led by Ken Sloan, this class reads and discusses books on Christian topics.
Youth Sunday School is held each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the Youth Room.
Wednesday Bible Studies are held Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. and evenings at 7 p.m. in Harrington Parlor. Rev. Commerford will begin a study of Spiritual Gifts in January.
Generations Bible Study is a cross generational Bible study that is lay-led and everyone is welcome. They meet one Saturday a month and start the night with a potluck dinner and fellowship. After dinner, the children go into the sanctuary and the adults remain in Shaffer Hall. Because the children and adults study separately, you do not have to have children to attend. Currently, the youngest person who fellowships with them is 8 and the oldest is 76. They welcome the ideas and perspectives that all of the generations bring. This is a relaxing, fun, and friendly way to learn more about the Bible and they would love to have you join them.
They will be meeting on the following Saturdays in 2017:
December 9 – Christmas party
They meet in Shaffer Hall at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and then have their Bible study from 6 -7. They buy a main dish and everyone brings a side dish to compliment it.
If you would like to know more about future meetings or would like to be added to the email list, please contact Shannon Trevino at firstname.lastname@example.org or 561-707-8045.
