Palm Sunday concert

Please join us for our Palm Sunday concert, when our Chancel Choir will present the poignant and beautiful “Requiem” by John Rutter.

“Requiem”, the Latin word for “rest”, is the opening word of the Mass for the Dead, a service to honor and remember a loved one as an act of worship to God. The prayers and scriptures used in the service have evolved and developed over hundreds of years, resulting in a religious observation that is dramatic, emotional, and comforting. Because of this, musicians have gravitated to the Requiem service as something to set to music. John Rutter wrote his following the death of his own father.

Palm Sunday initiates the final week of Lent, the season of repentance. It is the week we ponder the events in Jesus’ life that led to His death. As His death and resurrection symbolize our own death to self and new spiritual birth, a Requiem is an ideal musical expression for Palm Sunday.

We hope you will join us. We know that you will be inspired and blessed.
